Syria traditional clothing dresses folk Damascus Weiss-Armush

Women of Kafar Sousa and Daraya in southwestern Damascus (also called the Western Ghoota) wrap one length of special fabric as a skirt, with the second as a head covering. The fabric is white cotton, block printed with the lime-resist method. The print uses the traditional blue and red shades, with tiny points of peach to highlight the dark rows, with a more simple border design at the selvages that emphasizes the white fabric.
