Travel the World Summer Camp from DFW International / Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas

With sponsorship from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, DFW International Community Alliance will present the Travel the World Summer Camp, a free children’s learning program, in the North Oak Cliff Branch Library (302 West Tenth Street, 75208). Beginning on Tuesday, July 9 and running through July 26, the camp will provide children with an exciting global experience. The summer camp is for children who have just completed grades 2 through 6 and runs from 12 pm to 2 pm. It is the first summer experience of this type in North Texas.

Inspired by the diversity of DFW’s international communities, the Travel the World Summer Camp is a three-week bilingual program that focuses on Latin American, Asia, Africa and Europe. Children will receive a daily hour-long lesson on the people, traditions and culture of eleven nations through a fusion of crafts, music, geography, and healthy living. Special guests are scheduled every week and will introduce African drumming and folklore, Egyptian dance, Native American ceremonies, Korean martial arts and Brazilian capoeira. The camp is free and parents can register at the North Oak Cliff Branch Library or by calling 214-670-7555.

Anne Marie Weiss-Armush, president of DFW International, says "We're delighted that Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas has recognized the global nature of DFW and has made it possible for us to offer this innovative new program. Our goal is to foster pride in the cultural heritages of the internationals who have made North Texas their new homes, and to build respect for our diversity..”
