Spring Creek Parkway (across from Collin County Community College) in east Plano. Food will be available for purchase, and coolers, lawn chairs and picnics are welcome. The Fiesta Latinoamericana is sponsored by the City of Plano, Univision 23, Univision Radio, KNON and Al Dia. The evening starts at 5:00 pm with a FREE Family Fiesta!, with the following children's cultural workshops: Latin American storytelling, clowns, folkloric dance workshops from Chile / Spain / Argentina / Mexico, Capoeira (Brazilian martial arts) and Afro-Latino drumming. The multimedia show that begins at 8:00 pm features dance, live music, theater, and film. Tickets are $10 for adults, free for children, and may be purchased at the gate or online at www.dfwinternational.org/FiestaLatinoamericana. This year the program will be built around these four great literary figures:: MEXICO: Carlos Fuentes SPAIN: Miguel Hernandez CHILE: Victor Jara ARGENTINA: Horacio Quiroga Planos Creative Arts Manager Jim Wear says "The City of Plano, through the Special Events Program, is a proud supporter of Fiesta Latinoamericana. Plano is a city of great diversity, and it is critical to our mission that we celebrate all the cultures that enrich our community. The City is also delighted that the event will take place this year in and around the beautiful Amphitheater at Oak Point Park--a perfect setting for families to come and enjoy the food, the performances and the fellowship!" Participating arts groups include: DFW International Community Alliance is the portal for global North Texas, a network of 1,600 of the regions ethnic and internationally-focused civic, community and educational organizations. Its mission is to build mutual understanding and respect by linking diverse international cultural communities.
