Seventeen North Texas mayors have accepted the invitation extended by DFW International Community Alliance to attend a gathering on Thursday, August 26 that celebrates the contributions of New Americans to the DFW area.  Mayor Joe Chow of the Town of Addison is the Honorary Chair of the third annual dinner which will be held at Temple Emanu-El, 8500 Hillcrest Road (at NWH Highway) at 6 pm. The flags of 70 nations will be presented to the assembled mayors during the event. The DFW International Dinner with the Mayors is open to the public and tickets are available for $100 from the webpage, or by calling 972-965-5727.

According to the US Census data collected in the recent DFW Today report prepared by DFW Intenraitonal Community Alliance, 44% of the residents of North Texas are New Americans, a 15% increase over the past three years.  A total of 2,447,053 North Texans are either foreign-born or the children of immigrants.  Two hundred thirty nine languages are spoken in the mettroplex, and in 29.3 of the region's homes, English is not the language spoken normally spoken.
