Dallas, TX - DFW International Community Alliance announces the 2014 update of its  free “Guide to Scholarships for New Americans and Minorities”, sponsored by The Alameel Foundation, Ernst & Young, and State Farm.  The 48-page comprehensive directory of scholarships is now available at metroplex high schools and libraries, and may also be downloaded from the organization’s website.
The guide offers students information about thousands of scholarships, plus an outline to the college enrollment process.  It explains how to design a four year plan for high school academics as well as the importance of choosing extracurricular and volunteer activities in the pre-college years.  A series of links offer online educational resources that explore these themes in greater detail. A Spanish language section helps parents be partners in the higher education application process and explains confusing terms such as PSAT, SAT, and FAFSA.
The directory’s sponsor, Dr. David Alameel, now a candidate for the Texas seat in the U.S. Senate, worked his way through college as an agricultural laborer, and recalls that “through hard work – as The American Dream promises – any immigrant to the U.S. can become the first in his or her family to attend college.  In this great nation, education is the key to progress and a better life, and for that reason I lent my support to DFW International Community Alliance for this outstanding scholarship guide.”
