DFW International Community Alliance is proud to present the African Unity Festival sponsored by the Embrey Family Foundation.  The three elements forming the festival are a soccer tournament, a cultural evening and food festival, and cultural activities for families.

  • The DFW Unity Cup is a six week long soccer tournament with the 3rd Place and Championship Games on Saturday, May 31st starting at 4 pm at the UT Dallas Soccer Field in Richardson.  Tickets for the games are $5, children under 10 are FREE, and are available at the door. 
  • On Sunday, June 1st, Africa Day at J. Erik Jonsson Central Library is from 1 pm to 5 pm and will include interactive workshops for children, African arts and crafts and cultural booths.  It is FREE to all. 
  • Also on June 1st, Taste of Africa Food Festival and Cultural Evening will begin at 6 pm at SMU’s Hughes-Trigg Student Center.  The evening will include dishes from 12 African countries, parade of nations, DFW Africa Unity Cup awards, African DJ and regional music for dancing.  Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children 10-5 and children under 5 are FREE.  They are available at the door or online at www.dfwinternational.org/AfricanUnity

Lauren Embrey says "The Embrey Family Foundation is committed to the education of human rights with the understanding that change begins in our own community. As we begin to communicate with each other we develop a greater understanding and appreciation for each other. By supporting this project, which brings together New Americans born in Africa, we stand with them to create awareness and to foster unity amongst all people through the acknowledgment of each other's existence and respective cultures."
